Full job description
The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. – EGADZ requires Outreach Workers who are interested in Casual or Part Time shifts for select Programs within EGADZ.
(Shift Work Is Required–Daytime/Evenings/Weekends/Awake Overnights).
EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.
Outreach workers provide support and services to people in the community and our programs who are considered “hard to serve” or live at-risk lifestyles.
Currently, the following programs are seeking Outreach Workers:
- Operation Runaway (Part Time) provides services to youth who habitually run away, or are at risk of running away. Workers provide support and advocacy in mental health, addictions, homelessness, housing, and follow up services.
- Ground Zero (Part Time) is a Transitional Housing project designed to fill gaps in youth housing. Staff provide services on both an emergent and long-term basis.
- Crisis Outreach (Part Time) works with youth in our residential programs who struggle with mental health, providing services and non-judgmental support.
The ideal candidates for all positions are non-judgmental, compassionate and are able to build trusting relationships with youth.
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience or a combination of both
· Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle
· Knowledge of other agencies and resources within our community
· Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partnering agencies while maintaining strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
· Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form
· Working knowledge of computers/windows
· Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues
· A good understanding of EGADZ and our mission
· Training in CPR and ASIST, or other relevant certifications
· A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a safe driving record – A Driver’s Abstract is Required (Within 3 Months).
· Criminal records Check (Within 6 Months)
Starting Wage $23.10–24.18/hr
